Data logger validation confirms that the temperature and humidity loggers behind your compliance records are reading accurately — before an audit, a mapping study or a rejected shipment tells you otherwise. A logger that has drifted out of tolerance can quietly undermine months of cold chain data. How data logger validation works
Each logger is compared against a reference standard in a controlled environment. For a single-point check we hold the logger at your critical operating temperature and record the deviation between the logger and the reference. For a multi-point check we repeat this at several points across the working range — typically low, middle and high — so you know the logger is accurate everywhere it operates, not just at one temperature.
Where a logger protects a critical alarm limit, we also verify the alarm: we drive the sensor past the configured threshold and confirm the alarm activates where it should. For loggers used in mapping studies, we verify them before the study and again after it, so the study data is defensible from end to end.
On-site work is usually completed the same day, with loggers returned to service as each one passes. Laboratory work typically takes three to five business days, with express turnaround of 24-48 hours when scheduled in advance. We also track every logger’s calibration due date — monthly, six-monthly or twelve-monthly — and schedule your next visit before any unit falls due, so validation never lapses between audits.

Our reference standards are calibrated by NATA-accredited laboratories, so every check is NATA-traceable and linked to Australian national measurement standards. Each certificate documents the traceability chain along with the as-found readings, the reference used, the points tested and the measured deviation at each point — the evidence an auditor or customer needs before they accept your monitoring data.

Frequently asked questions
How often should data loggers be validated?
Twelve-monthly validation is the most common interval, and it is what most auditors expect as a minimum. Some GxP and cold chain programs specify six-monthly checks, and loggers used in mapping studies should be verified before and after each study regardless of their routine interval. We can recommend an interval based on how each logger is used.
Single-point or multi-point — which do I need?
If a logger only ever monitors one condition — a vaccine fridge held at 5 °C, for instance — a single-point check at that temperature is often enough. If the logger operates across a range, such as transport loggers that see both frozen and chilled loads, a multi-point check across that range is the defensible option. Many sites use a mix of both.
Can you validate loggers without interrupting our monitoring?
Yes. On site we stage the work so only a portion of your loggers is out of service at any time, and spare or rotated units can maintain coverage while each batch is checked. For laboratory work, many clients send loggers in rotation so monitoring continues uninterrupted.
