How we calibrate
Every electrical calibration we perform follows a documented procedure traceable to national standards held by NATA-accredited reference laboratories.
- Initial verification — your instrument is inspected for visible damage, functional faults, and obvious safety issues before any calibration begins.
- As-found readings — we record the instrument’s performance against reference standards at multiple points across its measurement range.
- Adjustment — where the instrument supports adjustment and is found out-of-tolerance, we bring it back into specification.
- As-left readings — final verification after adjustment, recorded at the same reference points.
- Certificate of calibration — issued in PDF with instrument ID, environmental conditions, reference standards used, uncertainty calculations, as-found and as-left data, and the calibration technician’s signature.
On-site mobile calibration
Most electrical instruments can be calibrated on-site at your facility. Our mobile units carry the reference standards, environmental controls, and documentation systems needed to perform full NATA-traceable calibrations without moving your equipment off-site. Particularly useful when production downtime is expensive, equipment is permanently installed, or certification timing is tied to a compliance audit window.

Is FWC Calibration NATA-traceable for electrical calibration?
Yes. Our electrical calibration services are NATA-traceable, meaning certificates we issue are recognised under the ISO/IEC 17025 framework and accepted for compliance audits across regulated industries.
How often should electrical test equipment be calibrated?
Most manufacturers recommend annual calibration. In high-use or safety-critical environments, every 6 months is common. We can advise on the right interval for your specific instrument and use case.
What happens if an instrument fails calibration?
We document the as-found readings, attempt adjustment where possible, and report the outcome. If the instrument is non-adjustable or out of spec beyond manufacturer limits, we provide a written report and recommend repair or replacement options.
Can you calibrate equipment that’s permanently installed?
Yes — that’s exactly what our mobile units are for. We come to you with reference standards and the documentation needed to issue a full traceable certificate on-site.
