Mass validation gives you documented proof that the test weights, check weights and checkweighers your business relies on are weighing what they should. How mass validation works

Each weight is first inspected for damage, corrosion and contamination, because surface condition affects mass. It is then compared against certified reference masses on calibrated balances appropriate to its size and class. We record as-found values, assess them against the tolerance for the weight’s class or your own internal limits, and flag anything out of tolerance with clear advice on whether to adjust, downgrade or replace it.

Checkweigher validation happens where it matters: on the line. We run test packs at your target weight and at the upper and lower limits, confirm the unit weighs accurately at production speed, and verify that the reject mechanism actually removes non-conforming packs. Lab work on weight sets typically takes 3-5 business days, with express turnaround of 24-48 hours when scheduled in advance; on-site checkweigher validation is completed the same day. We also track the calibration due date of every weight and checkweigher on your asset register — monthly, six-monthly or twelve-monthly — and schedule the next visit before anything falls due.

Compliance: who needs it

Manufacturing QA teams use validated check weights as the backbone of their in-house scale checks, and auditors working to ISO 9001-style quality systems expect to see current certificates behind those checks. Food packers rely on checkweigher validation to support the trade measurement obligations that apply to packaged goods, and to support HACCP-based quality plans. Frequently asked questions

How often should check weights be validated?

It depends on how hard they work. Weights used many times a day on a packing line are commonly validated every six months, sometimes monthly in high-throughput or washdown environments. Lightly used laboratory sets are typically fine on a twelve-monthly cycle. We help you set an interval per weight based on use and condition, then manage the recall schedule for you.

Can you validate a checkweigher without stopping production?

Usually, yes. Test packs can often be run through the line during normal operation or a short changeover window, so disruption is minimal. Where a line stop is unavoidable, we schedule the visit around your production plan — early starts and shutdown windows included.

What happens if a weight fails?

We tell you on the spot, quarantine advice included. Depending on the weight and how far it is out, the options are adjustment, downgrading it to a less critical role, or replacement. The certificate records the as-found condition either way, so your quality records show exactly when the issue was identified and what was done about it.
