We calibrate the flow meter technologies commonly found in Australian water, building services and process installations:

How our flow meter calibration works
Every flow meter calibration follows the same sequence, whether it happens in the field or in the lab. We record the as-found condition first: the meter’s readings are compared against a reference standard at multiple points across its working range, ideally spanning the flows you actually run. Where the meter allows adjustment and results sit outside tolerance, we adjust it and record the as-left readings — so you can see both the error you were living with and the corrected state.
Many flow installations cannot be shut down or broken into without real cost. Our mobile calibration units let us test meters in place, with coverage across NSW, ACT, VIC and the NT, and results issued the same day for on-site work. Instruments sent to the lab are typically turned around in 3 to 5 business days, with express turnaround of 24-48 hours when scheduled in advance.
Compliance: who needs their flow meters calibrated
Accurate flow measurement underpins compliance obligations in several sectors:
- Water and utilities — chemical dosing, treatment monitoring and network reporting all depend on meters reading true.
- HVAC and building services — commissioning, water balancing and BMS energy reporting are only as good as the meters behind them.
- Manufacturing — batching and blending on process lines, where flow records are commonly required under HACCP or GxP quality frameworks.
- Gas systems — process metering where measurement error carries both cost and safety implications.

Traceability and certificates
Our reference standards are calibrated by NATA-accredited laboratories, which makes every result NATA-traceable to Australian national measurement standards. Each flow meter calibration certificate records the meter’s identification, the reference equipment used, as-found and as-left readings at each test point, and the measured error, and it documents the traceability chain. Certificates are issued in a format your auditor can verify without follow-up questions.
Flow rarely travels alone. If the same plant includes gauges or transmitters, our pressure calibration service covers them, and we can handle both in a single visit. Frequently asked questions
How often should a flow meter be calibrated?
Twelve-monthly is the common default for most process and building services meters. Meters on dosing or quality-critical duties are often calibrated 6-monthly. Your quality system or auditor may set the interval; where none is specified, we can recommend one based on the duty and the meter’s drift history.
Can you calibrate a flow meter without removing it from the line?
Often, yes. Many meters can be verified in place using comparison methods, and our mobile units bring the reference equipment to your site. Where in-line verification is not practical, we can work within a planned shutdown, or calibrate the meter in our lab while a spare holds the duty.
What happens if my meter fails calibration?
You get the numbers either way. The certificate records the as-found error, we adjust the meter where its design allows, and we retest to confirm the as-left result. If a meter cannot be brought within tolerance, we tell you plainly, so you can repair or replace it before it costs you at audit — or in product.
